    08WarmDay 108 - edit

This little dolly is proving to be quite a challenge to photograph. She avoids the camera like crazy (unless it is to see the little images of her siblings displayed on the back...) These were taken up at Smithville Lake on one of those crazy warm days early last week. I dressed her planning on doing a full photo shoot but she had no intentions of cooperating....

    Here she examines a leaf...

...before popping it in her mouth to taste it.

And then she cut her finger on a blade of grass and this is the face I saw for the whole rest of the shots...

Oh, well such is life... I did get one shot of all the kids together that I liked. I wished I had dressed them all with this shot in mind but I still like it...

I've finally gotten more comfortable leaving my camera on Manual and adjusting the settings for the look I want. (Thanks Kim, for that tip!) It really pushed me out of my comfort zone but I'm getting really excited with the results!

So Friday, I crawled out of bed for a few hours and tried another go at Tegan. I got one I loved so I put my camera away and went back to bed... I hate Strep Throat!!

  • AWESOME!

First, don't beat yourself up.  Toddlers are very difficult.  AND photographing your own kids can sometimes be trying, as well.

Second, I LOVE natural shots like you are showing here.  As I've been preparing my own photos for my new site, I see more serious shots, than I do smiling ones.  And it's ok!  It's real and it's beautiful.

And finally, the smiling one that you DID capture, is fantastic!  Great composition, good lighting, it's just excellent!!!

PS Good job, going to manual!  It will get easier. I promise!

  • Beautiful!  I love it.  She's a doll.
It was so great talking with you again.  I hung up and realized it'd been over three hours that we were on.  Yowzers!  Haha.  But it was so great.  I love you and think of you often.  We're tough chicks, you and I.    That's something to smile about.

  • Jessica, you amaze me with your photography! I really love the group shot of your kids and also the one with T. all smiles! Are you saying you have strep throat? It sure is a bummer and you be sure to take care of yourself. Sometimes Mom's take care of themselves last. Love, Aunt Suzy

  • love the group shot.  Trenton looks so grown up.  Sorry you are ill.  And yes, I couldn't resist the butt shot.  But in my defense, it was right there.....how was I NOT suppose to?  Lol.  Looking forward to Sunday.
